UK Enacts Ban on Disposable E-Cigarettes
The United Kingdom has introduced a ban on disposable e-cigarettes, effective from June 2025, citing concerns over youth addiction, environmental harm, and public health.
Deputy Environment Minister Mary Creagh described these devices as "disgusting" and "a major cause of concern." She argued that they have been littering streets and luring children into nicotine addiction for too long. Violators of the ban will face fines of £200 (€237), with repeat offenders risking up to two years in prison.
Disposable e-cigarettes, known for their bright colors and appealing flavors such as chocolate, cotton candy, or mint, are a favorite among young users due to their affordability.
