Uber Announces Launch of Senior Accounts and Easy Operating Features Throughout the MENA Region

In the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, Uber has launched Senior Accounts and Simple Mode, two new features designed to improve mobility for older adults. These innovations aim to make the Uber app easier and more accessible, while involving family support when needed.

Senior Accounts are an extension of Uber’s Family Profiles feature, allowing a designated family member to set up and manage rides for older relatives, even if they live in different cities or countries across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan, and Lebanon.

Key features of Senior Accounts include a streamlined app version with larger text and simplified navigation screens, the ability for a trusted family member to offer remote assistance, options for older riders to save favourite places, use flexible payment methods, and allow family members to track trips in real time.

For older adults who prefer to travel independently, Simple Mode can be activated from the app’s accessibility settings. This mode provides a user-friendly interface with fewer steps, larger buttons, and clearer prompts to facilitate solo use.

Uber’s Senior Accounts and Simple Mode are part of the company’s ongoing mission to make technology more inclusive and remove barriers to mobility. These new features are a continuation of Uber’s approach to cater to specific demographic groups with tailored solutions, following the successful rollout of Teen Accounts.

With Senior Accounts, older adults can request trips independently or allow a family member to assist when needed. They can switch on Simple Mode via the app’s accessibility settings for independent travel. Even without being added to a Family Profile, older adults can enable Simple Mode for a simplified experience.

The new features in Uber's Senior Accounts have been developed with input from older riders and accessibility advocates. They aim to bridge the gap for older adults who face difficulties with public transportation due to distance, frequency limitations, and high temperatures.

In summary, Senior Accounts offer a streamlined version of the Uber app with larger text, simplified screens, and the option for remote support. Simple Mode provides a user-friendly interface with fewer steps, larger buttons, and clearer prompts for independent use. These innovations help older adults travel safely and conveniently while strengthening family involvement and support.
