Tulsa Health Department Launches COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic for Minority Communities

The Tulsa Health Department (THD) has launched a vaccination clinic at the THD North Regional Health and Wellness Center, ensuring home accessibility within six miles of targeted zip codes. This initiative is part of THD's ongoing efforts to enhance COVID-19 vaccine availability and acceptance in minority communities, particularly among the LatinX and Burmese populations.

THD has collaborated with various organizations to achieve this goal. For the LatinX community, partners include La Conexión de las Américas, Tulsa Hispanic Outreach Teams, Tulsa Community Health Centers, Langston University Community Health Centers, Fe Y Justicia Worker Center, and Meals on Wheels Oklahoma. These groups focus on health education, outreach, and vaccination events. For the Burmese community, THD works with A Global Community, Tulsa Global Alliance, Refugee and Immigrant Services Education (RISE) Oklahoma, and Camp Fire Green Country. These organizations provide translation services, health education, and vaccination support.

THD also partners with Community Health Workers (CHWs) and Resource Navigators who operate directly within communities, providing information and facilitating vaccinations. THD's Public Information Officer, Bruce Dart, regularly updates the public on current partners and projects. To stay informed, visit the THD website or contact them directly.

THD's vaccination efforts are bolstered by increased vaccine allocations, including an additional allotment from the Oklahoma State Department of Health. Appointments are available weekly, with 1,000 slots reserved for North Tulsa zip codes. THD's website offers multilingual support, ensuring accessibility standards to all Tulsa County residents.
