Trump stated unaffected knowledge regarding the alleged aborted SEAL Team 6 operation in North Korea as reported.

The New York Times has reported a classified 2019 mission by SEAL Team 6 in North Korea, aimed at intercepting the communications of the country's leader, Kim Jong-un. According to the report, based on anonymous sources, then-U.S. President Donald Trump authorised the operation.

The mission involved planting a device to intercept Kim Jong-un's communications, and it took place during high-level nuclear talks between North Korea and President Trump. The account suggests that Trump had approved the mission.

However, no one in the Trump administration informed Congress about the botched mission. The Pentagon and U.S. Special Operations Command declined to comment about the New York Times report to ABC News.

The boat's crew, reported to have numbered two or three people, were unarmed civilians diving for shellfish. The SEAL team members believed they were spotted by a North Korean boat and opened fire, resulting in the deaths of all occupants. It is reported that unarmed North Korean civilians were killed during the aborted operation.

President Donald Trump, when asked by a reporter if he could confirm the mission, responded that he didn't know anything about it. ABC News has not confirmed the details in the New York Times report.

The SEAL team returned to their nuclear-powered submarine and fled the North Korean coast undetected after the incident.
