One such symptom is bad breath, which can be a subtle sign of dehydration due to reduced saliva production, leading to bacterial growth in the mouth. Another common symptom is muscle cramps, often caused by imbalances in electrolytes like sodium and potassium, especially with dehydration or excessive sweating during exercise.

Eye twitching, although usually benign, can also be a cause for concern. While it is often triggered by caffeine, fatigue, or stress, if it spreads beyond the eye or lasts weeks, it could indicate a neurological problem requiring medical advice.

New or unusual skin changes, such as new acne, dry patches, or strange rashes, might signal internal health disturbances. Skin often reflects internal distress, and these changes should not be dismissed lightly.

Dr. Khan also warns about the signs of sepsis, a life-threatening immune reaction to infection. Symptoms such as confusion, slurred speech, discolored skin, difficulty breathing, or rashes that do not fade when pressed require immediate medical attention.

Dr. Khan refers to nails and hair as "health barometers," suggesting that sudden changes in these areas may indicate low iron, thyroid issues, PCOS, hormonal shifts, chronic stress, or poor nutrition.

According to research by NHS England, 54% of people have avoided seeing their doctor about health concerns in the last year. The National Institutes of Health have discovered reasons why people may avoid seeking medical help, including underestimating the seriousness of symptoms and believing they will improve on their own. However, Dr. Khan advises against this attitude, stating that "little" symptoms can be a sign of something more serious.

He urges everyone to take their health seriously and to consult a healthcare professional if they experience persistent or worsening symptoms, no matter how minor they may seem. By doing so, potential health issues can be identified and managed early, improving the chances of a full recovery.
