Rising Expenses linked to Global Warming

By 2026, all districts and municipalities in the state will have been analysed in detail regarding water supply. This analysis will help in the development of a Masterplan for Water Supply, complete with Klimachecks for communal water suppliers, to prevent a potential drinking water deficit.
The state is investing heavily in this area, with more than 135 million euros being spent annually on flood protection and water ecology. In fact, the funding for water supply measures has been significantly increased, rising from 40 million euros in 2025 to almost 88 million euros in 2026.
Urban planning and agriculture are also key components of the state's climate change adaptation strategy. The aim is to develop agriculture that can yield well under different climatic conditions and urban planning that protects citizens from heat. The strategy also includes measures such as the de-sealing of soils and the introduction of more green spaces in urban areas.
