Reinforcing engagement in the digital era: a fresh network boosts user involvement
The City of Gütersloh, along with various local cultural and social institutions, has formed a broad alliance to facilitate digital access for older adults. Known as the DiA network, this initiative aims to strengthen digital participation among the elderly in Gütersloh.
The DiA network brings together professional and volunteer actors who have been active in senior work for years. It includes individuals such as Heidi Ostmeier, the Senior Citizens' Commissioner of the City of Gütersloh, and specialists like Madeleine Schwichtenhövel, a specialist for open senior and volunteer work at the DRK District Association GT. Other key members include Christina Wolff, associated with the Gütersloh City Library, and Dr. Dennis Köthemann and Mariya Zhovnovska, who are associated with the Volkshochschule Gütersloh.
The Caritas Association for the District of GT e.V. and the AWO District Association Gütersloh e.V. are also part of the DiA network, with Katrin Dechange and Julia Kelp serving as specialists for open senior and volunteer work, respectively. Other institutions involved include the Visit Service Caritas Association for the District of Gütersloh e.V., Women's Aid Friedrichsdorf, and the Senior Citizens' Council, with Joachim Brasch, Siglinde Weber, and Hans-Jürgen Berg respectively.
The Diakonie Gütersloh e.V. and the House of Encounter in Gütersloh, represented by Anke Fuchs, Wilfried Barembruch, and Norbert Franke, are also part of this network. Moreover, the DiA network includes the Digital Companion Diakonie Gütersloh e.V., represented by Paul Vennhaus.
The presentation of the DiA network's work and offers will take place at Filmwerk Gütersloh on Wednesday, 1 October, from 10:30 AM. This event builds on the popular "coffee chat" at Filmwerk, where seniors regularly meet before the film screening for the elderly. Interested parties can learn about the DiA network's offers and engage directly with the participants at the presentation.
The DiA network offers diverse services tailored to the specific needs of seniors, including smartphone courses, digital consultation hours, online meeting points, and personal advice. The network is open to all interested parties and can also come to other facilities upon request.
For further questions about the DiA network, please contact Heidi Ostmeier, the city's senior coordinator, by phone at 05241 / 82-2156 or by email at [email protected]. The DiA network's website is www.stadt.gt/dia. The DiA network looks forward to fostering digital participation among older adults in Gütersloh.
