Driving under the influence (DUI) cases in Altai Krai, Russia, have seen a decline, dropping from 2517 in 2024 to 2370 in the first quarter of 2025. This transformative shift is thanks to the regional GIBDTT (State Traffic Safety Inspectorate), according to reports.

Behind these stats, tragedies unfold; the death toll from DUI-related accidents dropped to two in the first quarter, compared to five in the same period last year, while injuries fell to 32 from 48.

The roads of Altai Krai continue to witness intoxicated drivers daily, but the number of accidents caused by them has decreased significantly. Last year, 25 such accidents occurred, bringing the grim reality of 5 fatalities and 48 injuries.

The War on DUI: GIBDTT's offensive

The inspectorate has conducted 268 raids in the opening months of 2025 and detected 245 drunk drivers or those who refused to undergo testing. Additionally, spot checks were implemented 46 times, resulting in the detection of 30 drunk drivers.
