Prohibition of Swimming in Rothsee Due to Presence of Bacteria

The Augsburg district and the State Health Department have reported high levels of fecal coliforms in the water at Rothsee Lake, Swabian Zusmarshausen, leading to a bathing ban that remains in effect.

For several weeks, the lake's water quality has been a cause for concern. The ban is due to "massive exceedances" of fecal coliforms, which could potentially lead to diarrhea and wound infections after swimming.

The Augsburg district and the state health department are working together to address this issue. They continue to monitor the water quality in the lake, and as of now, no date has been announced for when the ban might be lifted.

The public is encouraged to follow the bathing ban until further notice for their safety. Individuals who have recently bathed in the lake and are experiencing diarrhea-like symptoms are advised to visit their GP promptly.

Similarly, those who have swam in the lake and have wounds should also be aware of the potential risks. Ignoring the ban could potentially lead to wound infections after swimming.

The routine water quality controls at Rothsee in Zusmarshausen are carried out by the State Health Department at the Augsburg District Office. The health department has not yet announced a date for when the bathing ban might be lifted, but they will continue to monitor the water quality closely.

In the meantime, the public is asked to avoid the lake and ensure their safety. Stay tuned for updates on the bathing ban at Rothsee Lake in Augsburg District.
