O-Negative Blood Donors Urgently Needed This Summer

Canadian Blood Services is urgently seeking O-negative blood donors this summer. O-negative is the universal donor type, compatible with all blood types, and crucial in emergency situations. With only 7% of Canadians having O-negative blood, the demand is high and supply needs boosting.

All blood types are encouraged to donate, but O-negative donors are particularly needed. To donate, book an appointment online or via the GiveBlood app, or call 1 888 2 DONATE (1-888-236-6283). First-time donors will learn their blood type after their initial donation. Canadian Blood Services operates centres in major cities like Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary, and Ottawa for O-negative donors.

Honouring existing appointments and rebooking if schedules change is vital to maintain a steady blood supply. O-negative donors are urged to book appointments or visit donor centres immediately to meet the high demand this summer.

O-negative blood is a lifeline in emergencies, yet only 7% of Canadians have this vital type. Canadian Blood Services is calling on O-negative donors to donate this summer. All blood types are welcome, but O-negative donors are especially needed to keep the supply strong.
