In the latest report from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), Germany's public health institute, the country saw an increase in COVID-19 cases and deaths over the past week.

On Thursday morning, the RKI reported 17,504 new coronavirus infections, marking a 22% increase compared to the previous Thursday's reported 14,356 new infections. This rise is accompanied by an increase in the number of COVID-19 patients in intensive care units, with 2,861 patients being treated as of early Thursday morning, an increase of 2 from the previous day.

The incidence rate of new coronavirus cases per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days has also risen, increasing from 86.2 to 90.4. This indicates a higher rate of new infections over the past week.

Sadly, the past seven days have also seen 1,322 deaths, averaging 189 deaths per day. The RKI currently estimates around 145,500 active coronavirus cases with proof, about 22,400 more than a week ago.

The RKI also reported 227 deaths within 24 hours in connection with the virus. It's important to note that these numbers are provisional and subject to change as more data becomes available.

It's worth noting that the search results do not contain recent or clear data on the current number of active COVID-19 cases in Germany for July 2025. For the most accurate and current statistics, official sources like the Robert Koch Institute or recent government health bulletins would typically be consulted, but such data is not included here.

As the situation continues to evolve, it's crucial for everyone to follow public health guidelines, get vaccinated if eligible, and stay informed about the latest developments.

In addition to the rise in COVID-19 cases and deaths, the RKI also reported an increase in other medical-conditions related to the pandemic, emphasizing the need for ongoing health-and-wellness efforts. The incidence of general-news topics such as the search for accurate and current data on active COVID-19 cases in July 2025 could not be found in the available sources.
