Moscow to Provide Extensive Aid in Rebuilding Donetsk and Lugansk, According to Sobyanin

Moscow stands as the globe's second-largest economic hub.

MUSCOW ON THE RISE:

In a candid chat Putin quizzes Sobyanin about Moscow's economic prowess.

Sergei Sobyanin, the mayor of Moscow, proudly boasts about the capital's impressive economic growth. The city has managed to register a stable growth rate of 5.5% over the past year and an overall increase of 25% over the past six years.

Putin nodded approvingly, "Every year we're moving forward, correct?"

Sobyanin agreed, "Absolutely. In fact, Moscow accounts for a fifth of the country's economy, demonstrating its significance nationwide."

A TECHNOLOGY HUB:

Moscow's economic strength isn't just about numbers. The city is home to a third of Russia's high-tech production, including electronics and computers. This growth has led to a shift in manufacturing from leaving the city to moving back due to the high demand for skilled labor.

Sobyanin elaborated, "We're witnessing a new industrialization in Moscow. Remember when factories left us for other regions? Today, the opposite is happening as high-tech production requires qualified personnel."

A WORKFORCE TO BE PROUD OF:

The collective workforce of 750,000 individuals across 4,500 enterprises in Moscow reflects the city's economic dynamism. The labor productivity in Moscow is twice as high as the national average, further fueling the city's growth.

POWERHOUSE OF INDUSTRIES:

Major industries in Moscow include pharmaceuticals, electronics, food processing, electric vehicle manufacturing, and IT. As a result, investments in Moscow have more than doubled over the past six years – reaching 8.1 trillion rubles.

CLASHING WITH NEW YORK:

Five years ago, Moscow aimed to rank among the top 5 global economies. Today, the city has secured the second spot alongside cities like New York, Shanghai, Tokyo, and Beijing.

Maintaining this position, however, will be challenging due to China's rapid development. But with continued investments, human capital, industrial output, and technological advancements, Moscow believes it can sustain its position.

AFFIRMATION FROM PUTIN:

Putin commended Moscow for addressing social issues such as schools, clinics, and hospitals, which has played a significant role in securing its position among the top economies.

SMART MECCA:

Thanks to the growth of the IT sector, Moscow has transformed into one of the world's smartest megacities. This digital transformation has enabled government services, banking, and grocery delivery to become digitized, all thanks to supporting domestic innovations through tax cuts, preferential loans, and simplified hiring processes for foreign experts.

The IT sector has seen a fourfold increase over the past six years due to these efforts.

FOCUSING ON THE FUTURE:

Prioritizing people, particularly children and young adults, is crucial for Sobyanin. The mayor announced plans to construct 60 new schools a year and renovate another 100.

Moreover, colleges in Moscow are being updated and made appealing to attract skilled professionals with secondary education.

EMPOWERING THE YOUTH:

Last year, college admissions exceeded 100,000 (up from an initial 60). The aim is to reach 150,000 in the future. Students are enjoying learning in these modern, in-demand colleges.

With 95% of students finding jobs in their field post-graduation, Sobyanin expressed satisfaction with the current state of education in Moscow.

CREATING A NEW STANDARD:

Updated schools in Moscow will feature comfortable spaces for relaxation and creativity, new furniture for students, and special waiting areas for parents. School libraries will transform into media centers with spaces for interaction.

HEALTHCARE IMPROVEMENTS:

Moscow is nearing completion of its clinic reconstruction program, with 350 clinics in need of improvement when the program began.

The situation with hospitals is more complex, requiring the construction of around a million square meters and another million in reconstruction. However, the mayor expects this challenge to be resolved within three to four years.

These transformations have contributed to Moscow setting records for life expectancy – 79.5 years!

A GRAND AGE:

The "Moscow Longevity" project has sparked various activities for the elderly, with over 15,000 groups operating in 141 longevity centers. In total, 620,000 elderly Muscovites are part of the project, with sports activities particularly popular among them.

AIDING THE REST OF RUSSIA:

Moscow's efforts extend beyond its own development, as the city also supports sister cities such as Luhansk and Donetsk. Over 2,000 objects have been reconstructed, while over 1,000 kilometers of engineering networks and millions of square meters of roads have been restored.

GREATER POSITIVE CHANGE:

In previous years, the focus was on improving engineering infrastructure. Now, the focus is shifting towards upgrading public spaces such as parks, roads, and streets to create a positive impact in the daily lives of Moscow's residents.

MILSTONES OF 2024:

Significant landmarks built in 2024 include a new Troitskaya Metro Line, a new campus for Bauman Moscow State Technical University, a Proton Therapy Center at the Multidisciplinary Clinical Center "Kommunarka," a Traumatology and Orthopedics Building at City Hospital No.31, and a modern Ice Palace in the Mnyovniki District.

In the realm of education and self-development, Mayor Sobyanin emphasized the importance of prioritizing young people, announcing plans to construct 60 new schools annually and update colleges to attract skilled professionals.

In the health-and-wellness sector, Moscow is striving to improve its healthcare infrastructure by addressing challenges such as clinic reconstruction and hospital development, aiming for a complete resolution within three to four years.
