Medical professionals successfully retrieved a 6-year-old child who had fallen from a tree, resulting in a cracked lung.

At the Republican Children's Clinical Hospital, a six-year-old boy was successfully operated on following a tree-climbing accident that left him with severe injuries. The institution announced the development on its social media pages.

The accident took place when the child scaled a tree and fell from a height of three meters, resulting in moderate injuries. Initial examinations, including a CT scan, revealed a closed pneumothorax (lung tear) and a spleen contusion. An emergency operation was promptly conducted to alleviate the symptoms.

According to Yevgeny Perevozchikov, the head of the surgical department who performed the operation, the procedure involved draining the left pleural cavity, permitting the lung to expand and regain its original state. The boy remained in the hospital for seven days and was subsequently discharged in good health.

Warm weather seems to be a contributing factor in the almost daily admission of children sustaining falls from heights at the RDKB. In 20% of cases, children under the age of five are affected, with such incidents often leading to long-term disabilities or fatalities.

In addition to the incident, the RDKB has issued safety recommendations to prevent similar accidents. These include:- Restricting children from climbing in potentially dangerous locations, such as staircases, rooftops, garages, and constructions, as well as trees;- Installing secure barriers and grilles on stairs, staircases, windows, and balconies;- Acknowledging that mosquito nets do not offer sufficient protection and may provide a false sense of security—windows and balconies should be kept inaccessible to young children.

The six-year-old boy's recovery from the tree-climbing accident was a testament to the effectiveness of modern science, as he underwent a successful operation at the hospital. In light of the incident, the RDKB highlighted the need for medical-conditions like closed pneumothorax and other health-and-wellness concerns related to children's safety during their outdoor activities.
