Grief Support Charities Join Forces: A Boost for Bereaved Kids and Families Across the UK

Prince William, who lost his mother, Princess Diana, at a tender age, has expressed his support for the merger of two prominent grief support organizations - Child Bereavement UK and Winston's Wish. This strategic move aims to extend assistance to more grieving children and families across the UK.

As a long-standing patron of Child Bereavement UK, William has witnessed the organization's life-changing impact firsthand, describing grief as the "very worst pain" that a child or parent can ever experience. He recognizes that, while we can't prevent such tragedies, we can provide every available support to help rebuild shattered lives.

The need for grief support services has been escalating, and this merger is a bold step towards meeting the growing demand. The combined entity will make a significant impact, better serve their communities, and enhance efficiencies. Fergus Crow, CEO of Winston's Wish since 2015, will lead the combination.

The merged organization, still operating under the name Child Bereavement UK, aims to create a unified entity that utilizes the strengths of both charities. The new charity, expected to launch next spring after a six to nine-month merger period, will be steered by a new board comprising trustees from both organizations. Alex Fitzgibbons and Liz Gratton will co-chair the board for the initial 12 to 18 months after the merger.

Prince William's patronage highlights the importance of this initiative, providing encouragement to those affected by grief. The unified entity is poised to extend its reach and deliver more effective support to those who need it most. Grief may be the very worst pain, but with the right support, rebuilding lives can be possible. 💪💔❤️
