Jessica Biel's unwavering loyalty to Justin Timberlake is evident despite any obstacles they face together.
Justin Timberlake Opens Up About His Lyme Disease Diagnosis
Justin Timberlake, the renowned singer and actor known for his work in *NSYNC and films like "The Social Network," has recently shared some personal news with his fans. On July 31, he announced on Instagram that he has been diagnosed with Lyme disease.
In his post, Timberlake wrote that he has been battling health issues due to the disease. He also expressed his desire to shed light on his struggles, hoping to prevent any misinterpretation. The singer was reluctant to talk about his diagnosis due to his upbringing, which emphasised keeping health issues private.
Timberlake's post included a heartwarming picture of him hugging his 9-year-old son, Silas, whom he shares with his wife, actress Jessica Biel. Biel showed her support for her husband by resharing the picture on her Instagram Story, adding a number of red heart emojis to express her affection and solidarity.
The reshare of the picture on Biel's Instagram Story is a public display of their family bond and an act of public support from Biel towards Timberlake, following his Lyme disease diagnosis.
Lyme disease is a bacterial infection transmitted through the bite of infected ticks. Symptoms vary by stage and include early localised signs such as a characteristic bull's-eye rash, fever, chills, fatigue, headache, and muscle or joint pain. If untreated, symptoms can progress to early disseminated stage with nerve pain, facial paralysis (Bell’s palsy), heart problems, and vision changes. Late-stage symptoms may involve arthritis with joint swelling and pain, neurological issues like numbness, cognitive difficulties, and chronic fatigue.
Treatment primarily involves antibiotics such as doxycycline or amoxicillin, which are most effective when started early—generally curing the infection in 10-12 days if diagnosed promptly. Pregnant women can be safely treated as well. In some cases, despite antibiotic treatment, symptoms like fatigue and headaches persist in a condition called Post-Treatment Lyme Disease Syndrome (PTLDS), which is not due to ongoing infection and typically does not respond to extended antibiotic use.
Timberlake's Instagram post about his Lyme disease diagnosis was not intended to solicit sympathy from his followers. Instead, it was a step towards transparency about his struggles, aiming to raise awareness about the disease and its potential impact on individuals and families.
Timberlake and Biel share two children: Silas (10 years old) and Phineas (4 years old). The family's bond is evident in the heartwarming picture shared by Timberlake and reshared by Biel, which has been a source of comfort and support for the singer during his battle with Lyme disease.
