The Crown Princess of Norway, Mette-Marit, has announced her plans for a one-month lung rehabilitation program in Norway, scheduled to begin in early October. This announcement comes as the Princess continues to manage her chronic pulmonary fibrosis, a condition that restricts oxygen uptake in the lungs, also known as 'scarred lung'.

First diagnosed in 2018, the condition has led to the Crown Princess cancelling several appointments, including her appearance at the Leipzig Book Fair and a planned trip to the USA. Symptoms of the disease, such as shortness of breath, coughing, and exhaustion, have been affecting the Princess's health.

Despite these challenges, the Crown Princess remains optimistic about her recovery and is expected to resume her official duties in November. However, she will not perform any official duties in October, with exceptions such as the dinner for the representatives of the Storting at the Royal Palace on October 23.

The lung rehabilitation program is a crucial part of the Princess's treatment plan, aimed at improving her lung function and overall quality of life. The program will take place in Norway, allowing the Princess to receive care close to home.

Chronic pulmonary fibrosis is an incurable disease, but with proper management and care, individuals can live for several years with the condition. The Princess's decision to undergo rehabilitation demonstrates her commitment to maintaining her health and continuing her role as Crown Princess.

The public's support and well-wishes for the Crown Princess have been overwhelming, and many look forward to her return to her official duties in November. Until then, the focus remains on the Princess's health and wellbeing as she embarks on this important step in her treatment journey.
