Homelessness Awareness Day
In the heart of Bamberg, on September 11, 2025, an important event aimed at supporting those in difficult life situations will take place. The city of Bamberg, in partnership with "People in Need" and International Bund, will host an information booth about housing and homelessness at the Lower Bridge.
The event, running from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., will feature expert representatives from the cooperation partners who will be available for conversations with citizens and will answer questions about aid offers in Bamberg. A small quiz about housing and homelessness will also be offered.
Social Affairs Officer and Deputy Mayor Jonas Glüsenkamp will be present as a contact person for citizens. The goal of the event is to prevent homelessness and housinglessness as much as possible in the city of Bamberg.
The City of Bamberg is the contact point for people in need, offering comprehensive support services. Concrete aid offers include assistance for people to get out of housing and homelessness, and a perspective for a better life.
Those who wish to provide living space can register directly at the information booth. Housinglessness is often a result of various circumstances, such as loss of employment, serious illness, family crises, or psychological problems.
Meeting Point "People in Need" is a charitable institution offering a central point of contact, a warming room, counseling center, and other low-threshold aid offers for homeless people in Bamberg.
In Bamberg, the Caritasverband für die Erzdiözese Bamberg and other social organisations work together in the areas of homelessness and homelessness. The Caritas offers financial help, professional advice, training for volunteers, and special projects such as the Teilhabezentrum LebensRAUM Noeggerathstraße with a day centre and apartments for people with psychosocial needs.
International Bund (IB) provides help in Bamberg through the "Compass" project for people in difficult life situations who are leaving stationary facilities.
The joint event aims to educate the public, break down stereotypes, and highlight aid offers related to housing and homelessness. Interested parties can test their knowledge about the topics and learn more about the situation of those affected.
