Eye Day 2025: Learn About Eye Health & Tech in Freiburg
The Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired South Baden, in collaboration with the Clinic for Ophthalmology at the University Hospital Freiburg, invites the public to the 'Tag des Sehens' (Eye Day) on October 11, 2025. The event, held from 8:50 am to 1 pm, aims to educate and inform about eye health and assistive devices.
The day will feature a variety of activities. From 8:50 am to 1 pm, visitors can explore an exhibition showcasing assistive devices, attend lectures on cataracts and age-related macular degeneration, and even observe live demonstrations in the operating room. Expert consultations will also be available. Additionally, clinic tours will provide insights into the facilities and services offered.
Separately, from 9 to 11:15 am, the Freiburg Cornea Day will take place. This medical training event is specifically designed for specialist ophthalmologists to enhance their knowledge and skills.
The 'Tag des Sehens' is an opportunity for both those affected by visual impairments and laypeople to learn more about ophthalmology. Prof. Dr. Thomas Reinhard, Medical Director of the Clinic for Ophthalmology, hopes to make ophthalmology more tangible and understandable to all attendees. The event is free and open to the public, with no registration required.
