Expanded Café Operations at the Hospital: Extended Hours and Enhanced Services

New Café at Demmin District Hospital Offers Jobs Close to the First Labor Market

In a welcome development, "Café Bridge" at Demmin District Hospital (KKH) has been providing catering services since July, creating jobs that are close to the first labor market. The new operator of the cafeteria is Demmin Peene-Workshops, a company with extensive experience in catering, as demonstrated by their 20-year-old "Bistro am Stadtpark" in Demmin.

Located within the hospital, "Café Bridge" is a joint project between the hospital and Peene-Workshops. The aim is to signal professional and social participation, while providing a range of food and beverage options for patients, visitors, and staff.

The café is currently open from 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday to Friday. Two employees are present during the daily opening hours, with a team of ten employees and one supervisor serving the customers. Sandwiches are popular items at "Café Bridge" according to employee Sarah Illgen, who is working in catering for the first time and finds it enjoyable.

The offer at "Café Bridge" includes Bockwurst or Knacker with rolls, sandwiches, daily soup, various coffee and tea varieties, cake, cookies, small snacks, packaged ice cream, and will gradually expand to include sweets, toiletries, magazines, and fresh organic vegetables from their own production.

Daniel Kohtz, head of the department at Peene-Workshops 1, expressed his pleasure at the jobs created at "Café Bridge" and mentioned that the old kitchen at "Café Bridge" was no longer usable. Peene-Workshops has made significant investments in the café, installing a new kitchen line and having it installed by a specialized company. A new coffee machine was delivered in time for the start at "Café Bridge". New kitchen furniture has also arrived, and the hospital has redesigned the serving counter.

Larissa Boleska, public relations at Peene-Workshops, confirmed their commitment to integrating people with disabilities into society for over 40 years. Matthias Sump is responsible for ensuring sandwich supply at "Café Bridge" and enjoys his role.

Peene-Workshops plans a test run for extended opening hours on October 3, with "Café Bridge" open from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM. This will provide an opportunity for the public to experience the expanded offerings at "Café Bridge".

The previous guest lounge and tables with seating in the foyer can still be used by "Café Bridge", providing a comfortable and welcoming environment for all visitors. The "Café Bridge" at Demmin District Hospital (KKH) is a significant step forward in professional and social participation, and a testament to the collaboration between the hospital and Peene-Workshops.
