Demonstrators in Rheinsberg advocate for variety; displaying signs promoting diversity

In the northern Brandenburg town of Rheinsberg, organizers will lead a demonstration march during the Christopher Street Day (CSD) celebration at 3 PM today. The event aims to advocate for tolerance and diversity, with an estimated attendance of around 1,000 people. Notable performers, including Chemnitz-based band Kraftklub, are slated to appear.

Last year's CSD in Rheinsberg was accompanied by police, due to the potential for protests and violence from far-right groups. While specific instances of such incidents at past Rheinsberg CSD events are not readily available, the rise of right-wing extremism across Germany has sparked concern among organizers.

Following the parade through the city center, attendees can enjoy live music and speeches. Kraftklub, known for their opposition to right-wing extremism, will take the stage. EU parliamentarian Martin Sonneborn (Die Partei) is also expected to attend.

Beyond major cities, the LGBTQ+ community is actively engaging in marches to defend their rights. Organizers of the Rheinsberg CSD commented, "Let's make a statement, as the rise of right-wing extremism threatens all our basic rights." The town, although small, has a history of hosting cultural events.

  2. As the LGBTQ+ community advocates for tolerance and diversity during this year's Christopher Street Day (CSD) in Rheinsberg, let's also focus on mental health and chronic diseases, ensuring no member of our community is left behind.
  3. After the event, let's continue to support health-and-wellness initiatives, by raising awareness about mental health, chronic diseases, and neurological disorders, fostering a more inclusive society in Rheinsberg and beyond.
