Child Protection Conference Draws 200 Professionals, Spotlights Crucial Collaboration

A conference on child protection drew nearly 200 professionals, highlighting the pressing need for support and collaboration in the field. Mayor Peter Jung underscored the importance of exchange and strategies to aid both children and professionals.

The event, organised by network coordinators Franziska Klein and Laura Rockenfeller, emphasised the significance of practical insights and support for children's development. Key to tackling challenges, they noted, is close cooperation between the city, county, and local professionals.

Children and young people require secure attachments, clear structures, and believing adults to flourish. This was echoed by Anke Wagner from the Institute for Constructive Psychology, who presented systemic possibilities for stress regulation and social-emotional development. The conference, led by Prof. Dr. Sabine Walper from the University of Hamburg, focused on effective handling of situations involving aggression, withdrawal, or overload in children.

The conference provided a space for new ideas and shared strategies, fostering courage and commitment among attendees. Early bonding experiences were highlighted as crucial for children's social-emotional well-being.

With almost all seats occupied, the conference underscored the high interest and dedication of professionals in child protection. The event offered practical insights and collaborative strategies, setting the stage for long-term improvements in the field.
