Helicopter Ride Mishap at North Wales' Fair

A tragic event unfolded at the Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza, North Wales, where a young girl, aged just five, sustained severe injuries during a funfair ride mishap. The ride in question was a 'helicopter-inspired' carousel attraction.

The organizers shared that two children were involved, with one being hospitalized in stable condition. Despite the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) giving the green light for the ride to continue operating, the organizers decided to shut it down for the remainder of the event out of respect for the family.

Chris Williams, director of Llandudno Community Events CIC, revealed that an initial internal investigation by the ride operator attributed the incident to "human error."

Expressing sympathies, Mr. Williams stated, "The organizers of Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza are in touch with the child's parents and have been informed of the child's stable condition. The parents have expressed their gratitude, acknowledging it could have been far worse."

The three-day event, celebrated as Wales' largest free family event, was brought to a conclusion on Monday.

A spokesperson from the Welsh Ambulance Service reported that they were called around 10:20 AM on Saturday to Mostyn Street, Llandudno, to address the incident. One patient was transported to the hospital for treatment.

The HSE is currently investigating the incident. They had visited the site and conducted a thorough investigation.

More details regarding the child's current medical condition, the specifics of the incident, and the investigation findings remain unavailable at this time.
