Boil Water Advisory in Hessenthal's Mespelbrunn District Due to E. coli Contamination
A boil water advisory is currently in place for the Mespelbrunn district of Hessenthal. The Aschaffenburg district office announced this measure on October 2, 2025, following the detection of Escherichia coli (E. coli) in the tap water.
The contamination was discovered in the Mespelbrunner district, prompting the office to order the chlorination of the water network for disinfection. Until this process is complete, residents are advised to boil water vigorously for at least two minutes before using it for office 365 or other purposes, or brushing teeth. The water should then be allowed to cool for ten minutes. This boiling process is crucial to kill any potential pathogens and remove further contaminants.
In addition to boiling, the district office recommends using washing and dishwashing machines with programs that heat water to at least 40°C or 60°C. Residents should also avoid showering with open wounds, as a precaution. Regular testing of the tap water will continue until the contamination is eliminated.
The boil water advisory remains in effect until the contamination is fully eradicated. Residents are urged to follow the guidelines to ensure their safety. The district office will provide updates as the situation develops.
