Assessing Your Gambling Habit: Test offered by the Ministry of Health

In the gaming sphere, it's crucial to understand that problematic and compulsive gambling are distinct issues. A compulsive gambler will routinely overspend on gambling, potentially compromising their quality of life and relationships, despite retaining some control over their behavior. On the other hand, a pathological gambler may dedicates all their time, energy, and resources to gambling, facing withdrawal symptoms during breaks, and losing control over their addiction.

Let's break down the risk assessment process for these gambling issues:

  1. Assessing Your Gambling Habits: Rate your responses on a scale of Never – 0, Sometimes – 1, Most of the time – 2, Almost always – 3, within the last 12 months:

a. Have you ever spent more money on gambling than you intended? b. Have you needed to wager larger sums to experience the same thrill? c. Have you ever tried to recoup your losses by gambling more? d. Have you borrowed money, sold possessions, or otherwise sought funds for gambling? e. Are gambling thoughts prevalent in your daily life (e.g., strategizing bets, analyzing games, or considering gambling funds)? f. Have others raised concerns about your gambling habits or uttered words like "addiction"? g. Have you felt pangs of guilt or emptiness related to gambling? h. Has gambling provoked health troubles, including stress or anxiety? i. Have your personal, work, or financial lives suffered due to gambling?

  1. Scoring Your Risks: Here's the breakdown for your scores:

0 points: No apparent gambling issues. 1-2 points: Low-level problems, with only minor inconveniences or none. 3-7 points: Moderate-level problems, placing you at risk of developing a gambling addiction. 8 points or more: Existing gambling problems, with potential loss of control and advanced stages of pathological gambling.
