Alleged Child Maltreatment in Romania
Romanian Man Arrested on Suspicion of Sexual Abuse at Rulantica Water Park
A 31-year-old Romanian man has been arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing a six-year-old girl at Rulantica water park in Rust, South Baden. The arrest was made in Romania following an international arrest warrant and the man is set to be extradited to Germany soon.
The incident occurred on August 18, 2025, when the suspect allegedly lured the child out of the pool and into a nearby forest. The child, who lost sight of her parents in the pool, was found five kilometers away from the swimming pool, wearing only a swimsuit and flip-flops, having made her way through the forest in the dark.
The suspect was identified through CCTV footage and other evidence provided by Europa Park, the operator of the water park. A manhunt was conducted across borders, with the police cooperating with Romanian security authorities in the investigation. During a search of the suspect's apartment, clothing that he is said to have worn at the time of the crime was found.
The child remained largely unharmed after the incident, and there are no indications of rape. The suspect is accused of ordering the child to perform sexual acts on him, but further details about the exact nature of the abuse are not specified.
The arrest warrant for the suspect was issued on suspicion of the sexual abuse of a child. Before the arrest, investigators had other suspects in their sights, who were later ruled out. The status of the suspect's extradition to Germany is currently unknown.
This incident has caused shock and concern among the local community and the water park's visitors. The police have reassured the public that they are doing everything in their power to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children at Rulantica water park.
