Blast from the Past: Nico Legat's Alcohol Struggle and Rehab Stint
Substance abuse issues persisting at recovery facility - Alcohol-related issue persists at rehabilitation facility
In the realm of reality TV fame, things aren't always as glamorous as they seem. Take Nico Legat (27), for instance, who's been under the radar lately, giving rise to breakup rumors with his partner Nina-Kristin (43, famous from "The 50"). Well, it turns out, the real story behind his absence had nothing to do with Nina-Kristin but his personal battle with booze.
Spilling the beans to RTL, Nico, son of ex-footballer Thorsten Legat (56), opened up about checking into a rehab facility on May 5, acknowledging an alcohol addiction that required professional help. After a relapse, he felt compelled to take action and, on Mallorca, he made the decision to embrace recovery.
Unfortunately, the specific rehab center and treatment duration remain a mystery. Yet, Nico doesn't mince words, stating that he's reached the end of his rope and is taking responsibility for his actions. The goal is to emerge stronger and steer his life back on course.
A Glimpse of Regret: "Too Late, Maybe, But Not Too Late"
Nico looks back and wishes he had sought help earlier. Acknowledging the pain he caused himself and others, he admits that admitting to alcohol addiction on the dating show "Temptation Island" two years ago wasn't enough. As a result, his father, Thorsten Legat, initially kept his distance due to Nico's public misconduct.
After a period of abstinence following the show, Nico fell off the wagon again. In an interview with news agency spot on news in November, he expressed his regrets over infidelities and excessive drinking, which led to his appearance on "Das große Promi-Bußen." Thorsten Legat, meanwhile, didn't express any regret for publicly distancing himself from his son due to his TV antics.
Nico's now pledging change, vowing to leave his past mistakes behind and to look forward to a better tomorrow.

The science of addiction recovery could greatly benefit from increased community aid, as it is crucial in supporting individuals like Nico Legat, who is currently undergoing rehabilitation for alcohol addiction. Similarly, health-and-wellness and mental-health initiatives could also offer aid for the construction of new buildings to better accommodate and provide resources for those struggling with addiction and seeking recovery.
