Airline hires doctor and pilot, jobs in question

In a highly unusual turn of events, the Ministry of Interior in Kuwait has arrested two airline employees - a doctor and a pilot - for possessing unlicensed ammunition and homemade alcohol.

The incident, reported in July 2025, began with the discovery of 64 bullets hidden in the doctor's luggage at Kuwait International Airport. Upon interrogation, the doctor admitted to receiving the ammunition from a pilot colleague. The pilot was subsequently arrested at the airport.

A search of the pilot's properties revealed 500 unlicensed bullets, 87 bottles of illegal alcohol, and materials for home production of alcohol. The alcohol and manufacturing equipment were found at the pilot's second property in the Al-Shaab Al-Bahri area, not at the airport or the pilot's vehicle.

The doctor confessed to possessing the ammunition and receiving it from the second suspect, the pilot. The pilot confirmed the doctor's statement during questioning.

Personnel from the Research and Investigation Department affiliated to the General Department of Weapons Investigations took both airline employees into custody. They have since been referred to the Public Prosecution for further action.

It is important to note that such arrests of airline employees are not common in Kuwait. This case is part of a broader campaign by the Ministry of Interior to crack down on illegal firearms and substances. The publicity and seriousness of the arrests imply that this is a rare and noteworthy incident rather than a routine occurrence.

The Ministry of Interior is working tirelessly to combat crimes involving unlicensed weapons and ammunition. A warrant from the Public Prosecution was obtained to search the pilot's residence and vehicle, leading to the discovery of additional 500 rounds of ammunition.

The pilot's alcohol production activities took place at his second property, not at his residence or vehicle. The alcohol produced by the pilot was not accounted for in the earlier facts.

The arrest of these two airline employees serves as a reminder of the Ministry's commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of its citizens.
