Mayor Frank Hilker has praised the successful implementation of the family guide service, a permanent feature in five medical practices in Kansas City. The service, which aims to strengthen the health literacy of families, especially in challenging situations, has assisted over 100 families since its launch in 2022.
The family guide service provides early and low-threshold support that goes beyond medical questions. It helps parents and guardians navigate the complex healthcare system, offering a valuable resource for families in the city.
According to Mayor Hilker, the well-being of families is of utmost importance to the city. He praised the guide service for its role in supporting families and ensuring they have the necessary resources to make informed decisions about their health.
Dr. Natalie Hellermann from the pediatric practice at the Medicum Kansas City has also praised the guide service. She highlighted the service's role in providing a supportive and helpful environment for families, especially in challenging situations.
The family guide service is now a permanent feature in three pediatric practices and two gynecological practices in Kansas City. The three pediatric practices using Friederike Müller's services are Kinderarztpraxis Dr. Köhler, Kinderarztpraxis Dr. Schmidt, and Kinderarztpraxis Dr. Braun; the two gynecological practices are Frauenarztpraxis Dr. Meier and Frauenarztpraxis Dr. Lange.
In addition to the family guide service, the city portal also offers process guides for families. These guides accompany parents and guardians through bureaucratic procedures related to (impending) disabilities.
