AHA's Heart Mini Marathon Brings Hope to Cincinnati Heart Disease Patients
The American Heart Association (AHA) brought hope and celebration to patients battling heart disease in Cincinnati, Ohio, with its annual Heart Mini Marathon, a 10K run, on Sunday. The event aimed to mark milestones in recovery and honour advancements in cardiovascular care.
The mini marathon was not the only event honouring heart health in the region. On Saturday, October 11, 2025, Delta Zeta sorority participated in the Queen Bee Half Marathon and 4-Miler in Cincinnati. Meanwhile, St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood organised a mini heart marathon for patients unable to attend the Cincinnati event, demonstrating their commitment to inclusive heart health activities.
Dr. Mario Castillo-Sang, a specialist in minimally invasive mitral valve surgery, commended the hospital staff for their exceptional care and dedication. St. Elizabeth further supports the community by offering programmes to raise awareness of heart attack symptoms and promote overall heart health.
The Heart Mini Marathon and similar events not only promote physical recovery but also instil hope and unity among patients. Despite the progress, heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the United States, making such events and community initiatives more crucial than ever.
