Adapted transport services under Transdev North America's management are delivered in Santa Clara County
In a significant move towards inclusive and equitable mobility solutions, Transdev North America officially took over the operation of the ACCESS Paratransit service of the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) on July 1, 2025.
The ACCESS service, designed to assist individuals with disabilities who cannot use conventional public transit, is now a part of Transdev's managed services. The fleet, consisting of a mix of vans, minibuses, sedans, and taxis, all equipped with accessible options, operates under Transdev's management.
One of the key responsibilities of Transdev North America is managing the ADA Paratransit eligibility certification process for the ACCESS service. This process ensures that individuals who require the service are evaluated fairly and efficiently to determine their eligibility under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
The ACCESS service mirrors VTA's fixed-route network in terms of coverage and scheduling, providing approximately 2,000 trips daily. This continuity ensures that those with physical, visual, or cognitive disabilities can access the service and travel freely and independently.
Transdev's partnership with VTA underscores its ongoing commitment to accessible transportation solutions across North America. This new milestone in Transdev's mission reinforces their dedication to providing inclusive mobility options, allowing everyone to travel with ease and independence.
The ACCESS service continues to play a vital role in providing accessible transportation for those who need it most. Transdev North America will continue to manage daily transportation operations of the ACCESS service, ensuring that the service remains a reliable and efficient option for those who cannot use standard public transit options like buses or light rail.
