A father voluntarily left the United States to travel to Cuba, intending to come back and look after his ill daughter residing there.

In a heart-wrenching turn of events, Deivy Aleman, a 40-year-old immigrant, has been deported from the United States to Cuba under the Trump administration. Aleman, who lived in the U.S. for seven years, was issued an I-220B, or Order of Supervision, which required regular check-ins with immigration authorities.

Aleman's self-deportation has left his family in a difficult position. His wife, Yisel Miguel Sarduy, and their daughter, Keira Knightley, are both U.S. citizens. Keira, who is just a child, has a heart defect and has already undergone open-heart surgery. She has more surgeries scheduled in the future. The family's separation comes at an inconvenient time due to Keira's delicate health condition.

Aleman had been working diligently to secure a humanitarian visa, but so far, no luck has been achieved. His family, along with Congressman Jesús 'Chuy' García, a political representative advocating for Aleman's case, are hopeful for a change in circumstances.

In a conversation with NBC6, Aleman expressed his desire to return to the U.S. He is unsure what he'll do in Cuba, as the country's crumbling economy won't allow him to financially support his family back in the U.S. Aleman's wife, Yisel, stated that he has no criminal record.

The family's situation has sparked concern and sympathy from lawmakers and the public. They are currently working towards a pending family petition as an alternative option. As the story unfolds, the hope remains that Aleman can return to his family in the U.S. and that Keira can receive the medical care she needs.
